ingredients:
process: grate fels-naptha - i just used a small box grater, didn't want to lug out the food processor and i think the bits of soap are as small (if not smaller) than if i used the machine. it took a few more minutes, but watch some tv and you're done before you know it!
mix with borax and super washing soda.
recipe: my bar of fels-naptha yielded 3 cups, so i used 11/2 cups EACH of the other two, mix together. i am storing it in a tupperware with a measuring spoon.
use: add 1 tbps to washing machine
cost: approximately $22 (but i am in NO WAY finished - or even made a dent - in the powdered ingredients)
previous cost: about $30/container

@sarah - it's a little granola for my usual self, but well worth it! more $$ for manicures!! or baby diapers :).

Also, I did some math for you:
1 US cup = 16 US tablespoons
6 US cups = 96 US tablespoons
$22 for homemade/96 loads = $0.23/load
$30 for All/110 loads = $0.27/load
200 loads homemade = $46
200 loads All = $54
Your way IS cheaper and MUCH more fun.
and, to further display the savings, only $4 of that was actually 'consumed' in this batch (the cost of the bar of soap). the other boxes still have AT LEAST 3 more batches in them, so it was a total of $4 (soap) and $4.50 (powders), so it was only $8.50 for 96 loads approx .08/load. also, i think i used more than i should've of the all.
all in all, WAY more fun, fresher smelling, and a lot less of a dent on my weekly budget!!

um..I don't get it..why did you decide to make laundry detergent? You know they sell that at the store...
