our latest visit

we just returned from our latest visit with dr. le... despite the MANY contractions i've been having -- about one hour, for the last two days, painful enough to wake me from my slumber -- there hasn't been any more progress in the dilation department. still at 1cm. man.

here's the game plan:
2/3 - due date
*2/6 - next appointment with dr. le: checking status of dilation, heartbeat, etc.
*2/11 - another appointment: this will be 1w+1d post due date. dr. le will check baby's heartbeat again, do an ultrasound to check amniotic fluid, check status of dilation
*if by that friday/monday, we don't have baby green, we'll be scheduled to be induced
*obviously these are 'if necessary' appts. let's hope baby green comes right around his/her due date. fingers crossed.

thanks for keeping up with the progress (or lack thereof) -- and wish that we have the baby before the 15th-ish (we don't want to be induced!!) i asked dr. le if we could do anything, and he said there's NO nonmedical practices that prove to start labor... kissing that 'prego pizza' in clayton goodbye, then. it'll probably be more hassle than it's worth. i-n-d-i-g-e-s-t-i-o-n-c-i-t-y-u-s-a.

thanks for the birthday wishes!

thank you, everyone, for the birthday wishes! i had a great 30th birthday... events included (a lot of dessert and...):

breakfast (some would say 1st dessert, though i don't count it):
pete made me my favorite unhealthy breakfast in bed!! chocolate-chip pancakes!

breakfast presents:
when i returned to bed after using the restroom, i found two cutely wrapped presents in my spot... as well as a pepper and poodle ready to snack on my birthday breakfast, too :)

morning walk:
after tidying up the house, pepper, bailey, & i went for a long walk around the neighborhood. we had a great time smelling all the new smells that were created by the other animals enjoying the morning. it had been raining for the few days before, so there were many neighbors out and about! pepps & bails really enjoyed getting out of the house, and so did baby and i!

usual ritual:
i showered and got ready for my big day :) i had a few lunch offers, but pete called and wanted to take me to a special place - i am in!

lunch & dessert #1:
the special place was none other than fenton's! recently the place of les' birthday lunch :). i ordered my usual tuna sand-o, pete got the reuben, and then we each got a sundae - yum!

finally!:
after lunch, we thought we would check out best buy, as we have been in need (or extreme want) of a wii game system for quite some time now. no luck in vacaville, but a quick trip into the fairfield store and SWEET, they just got a shipment in! we picked up that bad boy right then and there! if you haven't searched for a wii, let me tell you, it has not been fun. first of all, kiss getting one anytime before christmas goodbye. i called so many stores and they even said 'we're out of wiis, can we help you with anything else?' when they answered... obviously i wasn't the only one on the hunt. secondly, you can't just order or get a raincheck or bribe anyone. it really has been first-come-first-served since christmas. i have missed wiis by seconds, really. lastly, anyone asking about wiis became the laughing-stock of all gaming store employees. they would chuckle or roll their eyes or be blatantly rude if you even mentioned the gaming system! anyway, i quit asking after les and i experienced an especially rude sales person at the vacaville best buy. in fact, i refused then and there not to shop at that location anymore. and if you're questioning me, pete had to run in when we checked on my bday, i really, really am NOT shopping there. ever.

after lunch relaxation:
this was a perfect part of my birthday present. i didn't mention that the cutely wrapped presents were gift certificates to a local spa: green valley salon & spa. i have been complaining about my toenails for weeks... and who hasn't heard about my pregnancy aches and pains? if you think you've heard a lot about them, try being my husband!?! so, the gift certificate entitled me to a signature pedi and mommy-to-be massage. i cashed in the pedi right away and spent a relaxing 1.5 hours in a spa chair getting my feet & legs massaged and toes painted in a perfect hot-pinkish-red by OPI, kangarooby:

dinner & dessert #2:
my family goes out to dinner for each member's birthday. we usually end up at hungry hunter or the buckhorn, and tonight was no different! i chose the buckhorn - you will see this come up often in my life - and enjoyed every last bite. my siblings got me some wii accessories, obviously they shopped between the hours of 1-6pm :) mom and dad hooked me up with a new fragrance and gift card for after baby clothes. we had dessert (mud pie!) and pete & i ventured home.

dessert #3:
it started raining again, so when we got home, pepper & bailey were a tad wet and muddy. we washed them and pete left me to blow-dry our little poodle (her hair is just like human hair, so she takes a while to dry). i was kind of annoyed because all i wanted to do was relax (why couldn't he do it? it was my 30th birthday for goodness sakes!!) but, i went ahead and took care of the poody. every time (almost) i am annoyed, pete will bust out with something so sweet and all my annoyance feelings are so selfish! when bailey and i made our way out of the bedroom, we found a birthday cake (from Rosanna's of course) with 'happy birthday mommy to be' and a 3-0 candle! we saved the cake for later in the week - too much sugar for baby (and mommy). it was a delicious champagne cake with a vanilla custard and fondant icing - YUM!

my belly after the day-o-desserts:

yep, it is the baby, but i felt like i had 6 pounds of sugar in there!

onesies attack!

les also brought the idea of freezer-paper-stencil-onesie-making to my shower! we ran out of time with the guests, but tara and les stayed and decorated a ton of onesis for our baby! check out les' blog about the craft, too.

here are the pictures i have:

baby green's baby shower was a blast! we had a great time with family and friends. the theme was nursery rhymes, so leslie made 'mary had a little lamb' cupcakes and mom decorated the house with nursery rhyme books and a yellow & green motif! tara, les, & i made paninis, and mom made a delicious salad. we also had tomato basil soup and cake from Rosanna's (we love Rosanna's cakes and get them for every occasion!) after our lunch, we played 'baby green bean the game' (also created by les) and i opened presents for the family. pete and i really appreciate all of our baby's presents and we are so excited to put them to use!

36w+4d

we just returned from a visit to dr. le! our baby is growing well and dr. le estimates he or she is about 6.5 pounds now :) i am dilated .5 cm, small as it is, only 1/20th of the way to the necessary 10 cm, it's a start! every bit we can go through now, relatively painlessly, is that much less we'll have when active labor begins. i think that's good news, personally! baby green is moving around like a maniac (which surprisingly kind-of hurts). i also started the baby book! here is another horrible belly pic and the first page to the album:

really starting to stick out there, huh?

less than one month!!

pete and i are getting so excited about our baby's arrival -- less than one month away (if all goes according to plan!). i've washed some clothes for the baby to come home in and am almost finished packing for our hospital trip. the car seat still needs to be practiced with (and the car in need of some detailing), but other than that, all necessities are ready to go! i'm busy with non-essentials, though. here is my to-do list for the remainder of the weekend:

  1. organize the spare bedroom -- never know who will come and need a place to rest their head! check 1/6 - all ready house guests!
  2. go through each closet -- i have clothes coming out my ears! a donation truck is coming by on the 8th... my goal is to have everything ready to go for them to take away! check 1/6 (but still need to remember to place it outside... memory lapses are common, so i'll have to keep reminding myself!) outside and picked up 1/8
  3. complete packing of hospital bag with 'luxuries' like my special pillow and favorite lip balm waiting on this -- need to make a trip to sephora for some special nice-ities
  4. review labor + delivery dvd (may hold off on this until les is available to watch with me!) def. waiting for a friend (or hubby) to check this off
  5. clean out garage check!
  6. decorate for valentine's day waiting for h.h. to open tomorrow :) got it all together 1/8
  7. get a better system going in the kitchen (we have great accessories, but not enough space... kind of driving us nuts when we want to make waffles) not quite yet... not sure if it'll ever happen, we just don't have enough room -- no amount of organization will change that :(
  8. clean out fridge check 1/6 and did the pantry, too!
  9. reorganize (for the 3rd time since moving here) my scrapbooking materials, sewing to-do's, and paychex + personal office jazz has been scheduled for 1/7 evening after work! done 1/7

ok, better get to it... yippee! i am checking off this entire list... bag + dvd later :)

wedding pics

i meant to upload pictures of our wedding early on in my blogging. due to my blogging inexperience, and other exciting events, i never got around to it. recently, i received a request from devon to see some shots. she put a little fire under me, so here they are:
