renew the zoo!!!

my team renewed the zoo on a very rainy saturday in december. pete & jack met my team and i for an adventure checking out the animals while it poured. we were pretty much the only people there. really. most of the animals were inside, too, but here are the few pics we did get:

how many trips does it take the green family to get a tree? three.

it took the green family three takes to get a tree this year:

take one: a trip to larry's produce - closed! so, we went to target, but decided it wasn't very festive/not a great tradition place. and a helpful customer told us larry's had great trees (we know, dude, thanks. but they're closed and we want a tree now!)

take two: pick up jack at daycare and head straight to the lot. larry's would be open until 5, it's 4, plenty of time. except we don't have any cash. or checks. back home.
take three: back to larry's with a little time to spare. tree, check. tied on roof, check. in house, check. YAY!

yay, santa is here!

i can't tell you how many times we tried to take a family pic. way to many. pete, jack, and i spent the evening downtown for the christmas tree lighting. it's quite the tradition, year #2 for jack (plus one in my belly), and countless for pete and i. we pile in the car, park behind hamilton house, say hello to gran, and join the crowd for live music, dancers, bands, and eventually santa! he lights the tree after a group countdown. jack was more interested in the bands than the tree or santa this year, but it's all about santa at home!

help for new blog title!

i was all fired up tonight, trying to get a creative christmas card together before monday. i'm thinking i can get one designed, printed, addressed, and postmarked by monday - they'll be in the mailboxes of the lucky recipients by wednesday. tuesday for my cali friends + family. i wasn't able to find a photo i liked, so i decided to do 'trial-runs' with other photos and decided we totally need a new blog title photo thing. like NEEDED. christmas card, shmistmas card. tomorrow's another day...

but seriously, creative-techno folks, how do i get this going to stretch without distortion? impossible? how do i keep the blog 'title' (which i can't leave blank) - from showing in additon to the title on the pic? if you ahve great, easy-to-follow advice - COMMENT, please! i need to get this project completed before i'm able to work on christmas cards. you know, i have my priorities.

and btw, this is not my final attempt. i don't like the size of the fonts. or necessarily the colors. i just love the colors of the pic and jack's very-him expression.
